FARAH (Pajhwok): A Taliban-planned car-bomb has been thwarted in BalaBuluk district of western Farah province before reaching its target, the Afghan army’s 207 military corps said on Monday.
In a statement the corps said the Taliban on Monday morning planned to attack an Afghan National Army (ANA) check-post in Shivan village with a bomb-rigged vehicle but the second brigade personnel of first battalion of 207 military corps identified and destroyed the vehicle.
The statement said ANA personnel suffered no casualties in the process.
Abdul Hadi, a local resident, told Pajhwok Afghan News the explosion was “very heavy”.
However, he did not have details about the blast because it happened far away.
The resident said security personnel had closed the Farah-Herat highway to destroy the bomb.
The Taliban have not yet commented in this regard.
