KABUL (Pajhwok): The United Nations (UN) has expressed concern over the escalation of violence, calling for a ceasefire and stability in Afghanistan.
The call came late on Tuesday when government’s chief negotiator and some members of his team met UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative Deborah Lyons in Doha.
A statement from the State Ministry of Peace Affairs said Lyons reiterated UN’s cooperation with efforts for strengthening internal consensus.
She expressed concern over rising violence in Afghanistan, called for a ceasefire and reaffirmed the UN’s full support for the Afghan peace process.
