MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): The father of kidnapped 9-year-old Abdul Rauf has claimed kidnappers demanded $2 million against the release of his son.
He said after four and a half months of his son abduction, the government only made promises and failed to ensure the release of his son.
Abdul Rauf was kidnapped four and a half months ago in Mazar-I-Sharif, the capital of northern Balkh province.
“First they demanded $1 million now they raised their demand to $2 million. They know we don’t have money.”
The father of kidnapped Abdul Rauf said: “I met with president Ghani and Vice President Amrullah Saleh in Kabul who assured me of the release of my son but no development had been made.”
Zahra, the mother of kidnapped boy, said the government was not sharing information with them regarding his son.
“We knocked every door to get help for the release of my son. Government officials make empty promises.”
She said President Ghani was very serious about Abdul Rauf case but alleged the president no ignored the case.
Balkh Governor Farhad Azeemi said the kidnapping case of Abdul Rauf was being investigated by security institutions.
On his facebook page, Azeemi wrote last week national security advisor visited Balkh province and besides other issues, Abdul Rauf case was also discussed.
