KABUL (Pajhwok): A key Daesh member on the run from jail in eastern Nangarhar province has been arrested in Kabul’s Sarobi district, an official said on Monday.
RizwanMurad, spokesman for first vice-president, told media representatives here, that the arrested Daesh member named Rassoul Jan.
He added the detainee had confessed to carrying out attacks against Afghan security forces and civilians and to terror activities in Achin and Batikot districts of Nangarhar since many years.
Rassoul Jan had links with Daesh leader Hafiz Saeed – who was killed in an Afghan Air Force strike.
According to the source, Rassoul Jan had been arrested six years ago by security forces in Batikot district, but he fled the Nangarhar prison after it was attacked.
NDS said that Rassoul Jan had recently arrived in Sarobi district along with his family, but he was arrested in special forces’ operation.
