PUL-I-KHUMRI (Pajhwok): Two people were killed and six others wounded in an armed attack on university lecturers in northern Baghlan province on Tuesday morning.
A security official, who declined to be named, told Pajhwok Afghan News that unidentified gunmen opened fire at the vehicle carrying Agriculture Faculty teachers in the Khalazi area of Dand-i-Shahab at around 9:00am.
He said a number of individuals suffered casualties in the gun attack. However, exact casualty figures not immediately available.
Police spokesman Ahmad Javed Basharat also confirmed the incident, but said nothing about casualties.
Abdullah Malang, spokesman for the Public Health Department, said two bodies and six injured people had been shifted to hospital from the attack site.
He said the dead included a student and a driver. Other students and teachers were among the injured.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the assault.
