KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): A female militant has been killed in a clash with security forces in the Arghandab district of southern Kandahar province, an official said on Wednesday.
Police spokesman Jamal Nasir Barakzai told Pajhwok Afghan News the clash erupted in Joy Lahore area of the district late on Tuesday.
He said the insurgents suffered casualties in the firefight but exact casualty figures were not immediately available.
Barakzai said it was the first time that the body of woman fighter was left at the clash site. Police have launched an investigation to identify the woman.
A photo of the slain woman, shared with Pajhwok, shows her wearing men’s dress.
Meanwhile, Taliban spokesman Qari Yousaf Ahmadi said the woman killed in Arghandab had no link with the insurgent movement.
