FAIZABAD (Pajhwok): One child was killed and four others wounded when a hand-grenade they were playing with exploded in Faizabad district of northern Jawzjan province, an official said on Thursday.
Jawzjan police chief Massoud Nadim said the incident happened in Sansiz area of Faizabad district.
The children had found the unexploded device and were playing with it when exploded, killing one child and injuring four others. Nadim explained the children fell prey to the remnants of the war.
Family members of the children said they were fed up with living in the district.
Kamila, a family member of one of the kids, said they had no complaint against the Taliban because their aim was known but security personnel must remove the remnants of war in the district to prevent such incidents from happening.
The Taliban have not yet commented in this regard.
Last year, four farmers were killed as a result of an explosion caused by an unexploded device in Dasht-i-laili village of Shiberghan city, the provincial capital.
