KABUL (Pajhwok): President Ashraf Ghani on Saturday assured the victims of a helicopter downing in Behsud district of central Maidan Wardak province of taking revenge from those involved.
A statement from the Presidential Palace received by Pajhwok Afghan News said that President Ghani talked with the families of the victims of helicopter crash today morning.
Talking via telephone with Mohammad Hussain, a family member of a second lieutenant killed in the incident, Ghani said that the heroism of those lost in would not be forgotten.
“It is our only request that those lost in the incident should be revenged and those who attack Afghan security and defense forces are the enemies of our country. An operation should be launched to clear the area and the families of the victims should be paid care,” Hussain said while talking with Ghani.
Abdul Rahim, father of Lt. Col. Abdul Karim, another victim of the incident, said, “My son was killed proudly in defense of the country, I am proud of him.”
President Ghani said that organs concerned had been directed to promote Abdul Karim by two ranks and assist the families of all victims of the incident.
He also talked with the family members of other victims of the incident and promises of assistance to them and taking avenge from those involved in the attack. Ghani said that the incident was not forgivable and it would not remain without response.
The Ministry of Defense also confirmed that gunmen loyal to uprising commander Alipour targeted an Afghan National Army (ANA) helicopter in Behsud district of Maidan Wardak province.
Three days ago, an Afghan National Army helicopter crashed in Behsud district, killing four pilots and five Special Forces soldiers.
