KABUL (Pajhwok): Foreign Ministers of Afghanistan and Pakistan have spoken about the results of the Moscow peace talks and expected results of the Ankara summit on Afghan peace and both ministers called the Moscow and Ankara summits as continuation and strengthening of the Doha peace process.
The Moscow meeting on Afghanistan between delegations from Afghan government, the Taliban and representatives of some foreign countries was held on March, 18 2021.
In a statement Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), said Mohammad Hanif Atmar on Friday had a telephonic conversation with Pakistani Foreign Minister, Shah Mahmood Qureshi and discussed expanding bilateral relations and strengthening the Afghan peace process.
The source added, Atmar called the final declaration of the Moscow Summit a significant step towards strengthening of Afghan peace parleys and called the supporting role of regional countries and the world including Pakistan as important in the Afghan peace process.
The statement said Pakistani foreign Minister, Shah Mahmood Qureshi assured that his country would have an active share in forthcoming meetings including the ninth Heart of Asia-Istanbul process in Dushanbe in late March, the next round of peace talks in Turkey and would also participate in the virtual meeting of Foreign Ministers which would be held by the United Nations.
The statement added both sides discussed strengthening economic ties through existing mechanisms between the two countries and stressed ensuring peace and stability in Afghanistan played key role in regional connection projects and connecting South Asia with Central Asia through Afghanistan.
