KABUL (Pajhwok): Second vice president Sarwar Danish on Tuesday said the Taliban continued to avoid real discussions on peace.

Talking to the introduction ceremony of Nilab Mubariz as new acting head of the Afghan Red Crescent Society, Danish said peace was a bilateral process and it could not be achieved until the other side had a strong will for that and declare ceasefire.

He said here would be no trust in the peace process until both the parties showed flexibilities and took strong measures for peace.

The Afghan government took all necessary steps with regard to the peace process to show its intention and was fully ready for dialogue, but the Taliban in return intensified the war and targeted civilians, women, Ulema, civil society activists and journalists, he added.

He stressed that the government would support a peace process that was just and stable and which protected the constitution and achievements made over the last two decades.

“The government also welcomes any rational proposal on the peace process but it should not collapse, divide or rapture the country”, he said.

Danish about the recent Moscow conference said, “We welcome the manifesto of the conference that emphasized on ensuring peace in Afghanistan through negotiations and political agreement, and no support to the return of Islamic Emirate.”

Danish said that the Taliban should know that achieving peace in Afghanistan was only possible with a political agreement and war and violence would bring only destructions and bloodshed of people.
