KABUL (Pajhwok): At least 34 new positive COVID-19 cases and one death have been recorded in Afghanistan in the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Public Health said on Wednesday.
The ministry said 1,815 people underwent tests during the past 24 hours and the virus was detected in 34 people, pushing the overall tally to 56,226.
Of the fresh cases, 10 were recorded in Kunduz, five each in Paktia and Badakhshan, four in Herat, three in Kabul, two each in Nangarhar and Takhar and one each in Kandahar, Panjshir and Nooristan provinces.
At least 48 individuals recovered from the pandemic during the period, taking the recoveries to 49,802.
The MoPH in a statement said one individual has died of the virus in the past 24 hours pushing the overall death tally at 2,467 individuals.
The global infection tally has reached 123 million, with 91 million recovering and over 2.7m losing lives to the Covid-19.
