TIRINKOT (Pajhwok): Local officials say Taliban insurgents have blown up a tower of the Salam Telecommunication Company in in central Uruzgan province.
Javed Khpalwak, head of Afghanistan Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (ATRA), told Pajhwok Afghan News the militants wrecked the antenna in Chinartu district and deprived residents of the communication facility.
Khpalwak said the group initially demolished the antenna room before destroying all technical equipment.
The Taliban and district and provincial officials have not yet commented in this regard.
The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MoCIT) says the Taliban have destroyed more than 200 telecommunication antennas across the country.
