HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): Health officials in western Herat province on Sunday said six individuals were killed and 13 others wounded in a collision on the Herat-Kandahar highway.
Dr. Arif Jalali, director of the Herat Zonal Hospital, told Pajhwok Afghan News a 404-type passenger bus collided with a cargo vehicle in Shorab Khurma area on the highway at around 4:20am.
Jalali said six individuals were killed and 13 others wounded in the accident. All the dead and wounded were men, he added.
Mohammad Ibrahim, in charge of the Herat ambulance service, confirmed the casualties were initially evacuated to hospital and later the bodies were handed over to their families.
Speeding and violations of traffic rules and regulations are among major causes road accidents across Afghanistan.
