KABUL (Pajhwok): A school teacher has allegedly been killed by Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers and two ANA personnel have been arrested in connection with the incident in Chak district of MaidanWardak province, officials said Tuesday.
Locals residents brought the body of the slain young teacher to the provincial capital MaidanShar in protest and demanded punishment for his killers on Tuesday.
Dr. Mohammad SaeedMansoor, director of education, told Pajhwok Afghan News that Afghan National Army (ANA) forces shot dead NoorulRahmanTassal, a resident of Gardab village and a teacher at Anbukhak High School in Shah Qalandar Bazaar in Chak district.
He added that Tassal was martyred when he was driving from his house to Shah Qalandar Bazaar in the middle of the bazaar.
An ANA soldier signaled him to stop and take him to the check-post, but the teacher did not pay attention. Then ANA soldiers would stop and take him out of his car every day and finally martyred him in front of the people in the bazaar.
He called on the government to stop such actions of the security forces and take immediate steps to ensure the safety of school teachers and students.
Mansoor said the issue was raised by tribal elders and the martyr's family with the governor, members of the provincial council and security officials in the provincial council hall.
Officials assured the people that the killers have been arrested and the case will be settled soon.
Governor Abdul Rahman Tariq said that he had been assured that two soldiers had been arrested in connection with the incident and legal action would be taken against them.
