KABUL (Pajhwok): The Independent Election Commission (IEC) on Thursday announced its readiness to hold provincial council elections nationwide and Wolesi Jirga polls in Ghazni province.
The IEC in a statement said IEC head Aurangzeb and assistant head Maulana Abdullah called on Second Vice President Sarwar Danish.
The statement said the IEC leadership informed Danish of the commission’s last three months activities, its preparation for the conduct of Wolesi Jirga polls in Ghazni province and the Provincial Council elections nation-wide.
Aurangzeb and Maulana Abdullah said that the IEC has prepared the amended election draft law and is ready for future procedure.
Danish termed IEC as a vital state institution and stressed that the electoral body give greater attention to election related matters.
He assured the IEC leadership of government’s full support in legislative and other matters.
