Gold price down, other items’ rates remain steady in Kabul

KABUL (Pajhwok): The price of gold has dipped while that of other essential items remains unchanged during the outgoing week in capital Kabul, market sources said Saturday.

Mohamad Javid, a jeweler in the Lycee Mariam area of Kabul, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the price of one gram of Russian gold rose from 3,000 Afghanis to 2,900 Afghanis and the same quantity of the Arabian variety from 3,550afs to 3,500afs.

In food items, the price of cooking oil slightly dipped.

Mohammad Omid Hussain, a wholesaler in Kabul Mandavi Market, said that the price of 16 liters of Malaysian cooking oil was decreased from 1,640afs to 1,630afs.

However, he said that 49kg of Kazakhstani flour cost 1,700afs, 49kg of Indian sugar 2,250afs, 24kg of Pakistani rice 2,400afs, a kilogram of African black tea 320afs and the same quantity of Indonesian green tea 300afs.

Retail and wholesale prices of some items slightly differed but the rates of other eatables were grossly different.

Hamed Sofizada, a retailer in Dahan-i-Bagh market, said a 49kg bag of Kazakhstani flour cost 1,750afs, a 49kg sack of Indian sugar 2,400afs and a 24kg bag of Pakistani rice 2,450afs.

A 16 liters tin of Malaysian ghee cost 1700afs, one kg Indonesian green tea 320afs and the same quantity of African black tea 350afs, he said.

Fuel rates remain unchanged.

Mohammad Sharif a liquefied gas seller in Kolola Pushta area said the price of one kilogram of the commodity stood at 55afs.

A worker of Hashemi Fuel Station in Taimani area said the price of one liter of diesel was 46afs and the same quantity of diesel 48afs, the same rates of last week’s.

Haji Hussain, owner of the Sadaqat Money Exchange Service in Kabul, said one US dollar accounted for 77.30afs and 1,000 Pakistani rupees 499afs, against last week’s 77.30afs and 491afs.
