PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): An Afghan citizen has been sentenced to 25 years after being found him guilty of smuggling more than three kilograms of gold.
An anti-terrorism court in Peshawar handed down the jail sentence to the accused, Idrees, on Friday.
He was charged and found guilty under various sections of Pakistan’s money-laundering laws, suggest court documents.
Idrees was arrested in August 2020 and has since been held in custody. The court also fined him $630,000 and ordered his deportation once he served the sentence.
