Mortar shells land on Khirqa Shrine campus, no casualties reported

KANDAHAR (Pajhwok): Two mortar shells have struck the campus of Khirqa Shrine in southern Kandahar province resulting in no casualties, officials said Monday.

Local people said that the incident took place today morning.

The shrine guard, Masood Akhundzada told Pajhwok Afghan News that one mortar shell landed in the campus of the shrine and another on a nearby tree.

He said that no one was hurt in the incident.

It is unclear who fired the mortar shells but police security officials said they have launched an investigation into the incident.
