Pakistani parliamentary delegation cancels Kabul visit

KABUL (Pajhwok): The visit of a Pakistani parliamentary delegation to Kabul, which was expected on Thursday, has been cancelled over security reasons, an official said.

FahimKargar, head of office of the Afghan parliament speaker, confirmed the issue and told Pajhwok Afghan News that the Pakistani parliamentary delegation flight to Kabul was among many other flights cancelled due to discovery of some explosives in Kabul Airport today.

He said that the explosives, which remained from the past, were discovered during a construction process in the airport.

The trip, aimed at discussing the Afghan peace, commercial relations and some other important issues between the two neighbors, would be rearranged, he added.

This comes as flags of Afghanistan and Pakistan as well as parliament heads of the two countries have been installed on the route from Kabul Airport to the Afghan parliament.

Two months ago, Mir RahmanRahmani, speaker of the Wolesi Jirga, led a delegation to Islamabad at the invitation of the government of Pakistan.
