Security forces shoot dead 10-year-old Uruzgan boy

TIRINKOT (Pajhwok): Relatives and residents on Friday placed the body of a child in front of the governor’s house in central Uruzgan province after being killed by security forces.

Siddiqullah, the father of the 10-year-old boy, said his son was passing through the area with other family members this morning when he was shot dead by security forces manning a checkpoint.

He brought the body of his child to the governor's office to demand the arrest of his killers. He criticized the fact that civilians were being shot dead by security forces and no one could stop it.

He called on authorities to arrest his son's killers and bring them to justice.

Uruzgan's acting governor, Nematullah Bakhtiar, said he had sent a joint delegation to the area after the incident and was awaiting findings.

He said the area was a security cordon and joint forces were stationed there. A thorough investigation would reveal the culprits and their handover to the law. Bakhtiar assured the family of the slain child of justice.
