Explosion at Herat gas facility causes massive fire

KABUL (Pajhwok): A liquid gas facility caught fire north of the capital of western Herat province on Saturday morning, officials said.

Firefighters were sent to the site to extinguish the massive blaze, official said, adding full details of the incident in Kamarkulagh area were yet to emerge.

Scores of gas tankers were on fire, residents claimed, saying an explosion was heard in the area before the fire erupted.

In February, a huge fire in the border town of Islam Qala caused a loss of millions of dollars to investors.
