Ghee, gas, gold prices up in Kabul

KABUL (Pajhwok): The prices of cooking oil, gas and Arabian gold have increased while the rates of sugar, rice and Russian gold dipped during the outgoing week in capital Kabul, market source said Saturday.

Mohammad Hamayon Safi, head of Food Traders Union in Kabul, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the price of a tin of 16 liters of Malaysian cooking oil increased from 1,630 Afghanis to 1,750 Afghanis.

He said that a low import of the commodity was the reason of its price hike.

However, Safi said that the price of a 49 kilograms bag of Indian sugar dipped from 2,250afs to 2,210afs and 24kg of Pakistani rice from 2,450afs to 2,200afs. He added that 49kg of Kazakhstani flour cost 1,700as, a kilogram of African black tea 350afs and the same quantity of Indonesian green tea 300afs, the same rates of last week’s.

Hamed Sofizada, a retailer in Dahan-i-Bagh market, said a 49kg bag of Kazakhstani flour cost 1,800afs, a 49kg sack of Indian sugar 2,400afs and a 24kg bag of Pakistani rice 2,400afs.

A 16 liters tin of Malaysian ghee cost 1700afs, one kg Indonesian green tea 320afs and the same quantity of African black tea 360afs, he said.

Mohamad Javid, a jeweler in the Lycee Mariam area of Kabul, told Pajhwok that the price of one gram of Arabian gold rose from 3,500afs to 3,600afs while the price of the same quantity of Russian gold droped from 2,900afs to 2,800afs.

The price of liquefied gas has increased.

Mohammad Sharif, a liquefied gas seller in Kolola Pushta area of Kabul said the price of one kilogram of the commodity was increased from 55afs to 60afs.

A worker of Hashemi Fuel Station in Taimani area said the price of one liter of petrol was 46afs and the same quantity of diesel 48afs.

Haji Hussain, owner of the Sadaqat Money Exchange Service in Kabul, said one US dollar accounted for 77.60afs and 1,000 Pakistani rupees 498afs, against last week’s 77.30afs and 499afs.
