PUL-IALAM (Pajhwok): A newly-constructed building for a girl’s school was inaugurated in Baraki Barak district of central Logar province on Monday.
Shapoor Arab, spokesman for the provincial education department, told Pajhwok Afghan News the Sheikh Hassan girls' primary school building was constructed by the Engineering Department of the Education Department at a cost of five million afghanis under the Iqra program of the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development.
Arab added that the new building has 10 classrooms, two administrative rooms, a water well and five bathrooms and the capacity to accommodate 600 female students.
He said 93 of the total 276 schools in Logar still have no buildings and efforts were being made to construct more buildings.
Ahmad Mukhtar, a resident of Baraki Barak district, said Sheikh Hussain Primary School had no building and its students would face serious problems.
Most of the time, the school would remain closed during wind and rain, but now these problems had been resolved, he said.
Six days ago, building for a boys' school named HamidullahFarooqi was inaugurated in the same district.
