JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Unidentified gunmen have shot dead eight members of a family during Taraweeh prayer in eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Sunday.
Governor Zia-ul-Haq Amarkhel tweeted the overnight incident took place in Naghlo Sarach Ali Khan area of the 9th police district of Jalalabad at around 9:00pm.
Amarkhel wrote five of the eight victims were brothers -- sons of Haji Abdul Wahab --and three others were their nephews. He linked the incident to a dispute over land.
Abdul Basir Gulab, administrative chief for Behsud district, said information about the attackers was not immediately available.
