KABUL (Pajhwok): At least 105 new positive COVID-19 cases and six deaths have been recorded in Afghanistan in the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Public Health said on Sunday.
The ministry said 1,874 people underwent tests during the past 24 hours and the virus was detected in 105 people, pushing the overall tally to 57,898.
Of the fresh cases, 33 were recorded in Nangarhar, 30 in Kabul, 15 in Kandahar, 10 in Kunduz, eight in Herat, four in Kapisa and one each in Logar, Ghazni, Badghis, Khost and Farah provinces.
At least 52 individuals recovered from the pandemic during the period, taking the total recoveries to 52,168.
The MoPH in a statement said six individuals died of the virus in the past 24 hours, pushing the overall death toll to 2,545.
The global infection tally has reached 141 million, with 116 million recovering and over three million losing lives to the infection.
