HERAT (Pajhwok): Local officials in western Herat province on Monday said 35 Afghan prisoners, including 13 women, have been released by Iran and shifted a prison in the province.
AmrullahNoorzai, the head of provincial prisons, said at the prisoners’ release ceremony that according to the memorandum of understanding between the two countries 609 Afghan prisoners were transferred from Iranian prisons to Herat prisons in the past one month.
According to him, besides 609 prisoners transferred from Iran to Herat Prison, 35 new cases were processed and the convicts were released on Monday.
