KABUL (Pajhwok): At least 79 civilians suffered casualties as a result of the ongoing conflict and incidents of violence across the country last week, the Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC) said on Monday.
In a statement, the rights watchdog said that 39 people were killed and 40 others wounded in Farah, Parwan, Nangarhar and Kandahar provinces last week.
Eight women and 25 children were among the casualties, which resulted from magnetic bomb blasts, roadside explosions and gun attacks. Taliban’s involvement in most the incidents was alleged.
The Taliban have so far said nothing in this regard, but the group’s spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid claimed nearly 100 civilians had suffered casualties in security forces’ attacks.
