GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): Acting police chief for Deh Yak district of southern Ghazni province has been killed and the first police district chief of Ghazni city wounded during a clash with the Taliban, officials said Thursday.
Ghazni governor’s spokesman, Wahidullah Jummazada, told Pajhwok Afghan News that Lt. Javid was killed during a clash with Taliban militants in Deh Yak district on Wednesday night.
He said that militants also suffered casualties during the battle, but he did not know their exact figures.
Afghan forces and the Taliban also engaged in a fight in Arzo area on the outskirts of Ghazni city, the provincial capital today morning, he said.
He said that Hasham Khaliji, chief of the first police district of Ghazni city was wounded in the incident.
Jummazada said that Khalilgi was currently under treatment and was in stable health condition.
Taliban did not comment about the battle.
Clashes between the Afghan forces and the Taliban have recently intensified across the country.
