KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): President Ashraf Ghani on Thursday inaugurated a 200-bed hospital built by the private sector during a visit to southern Kandahar province.
The Kandahar governor’s house in a statement said President Ghani accompanied by a high-level delegation today visited the province.
First vice president, National Security Advisor, General Director of the Administrative Affairs of the President, some cabinet members, Kandahar governor and a number of other local officials were present when the president inaugurated the Mohmand Hospital.
SediqMahmand, head of Mohmand Group of Companies, told the meeting that the new hospital would provide standard health services at the peak of Covid-19 to Kandahar people.
AmrullahSaleh, first vice presiden,t during the inauguration ceremony of the hospital, said that the government had strengthened its relations with the private sector and praised the private sector’s role in economic development.
Investment in the country considering the current situation shows Mohmand Group’s love with their country and it would prevent capital flight to foreign countries, he said.
President Ghani talking to the ceremony congratulated Kandahar people on the hospital’s inauguration and said that Mohmand Hospital’s completion was a good news for all Afghans.
“Today is a new phase in the history of our health and standard services and equipment of Mohmand Hospital is appreciable,” he said.
He directed cabinet members and said that all government officials should be treated in Mohmand Hospital and they may travel abroad only in case of serious need.
Mohmand Hospital is built by trader, SeqiqMohmand, on a cost of around $40 million. The hospital is equipped with standard tools and employed with professional personnel.
The hospital contains sections of heart diseases, eye diseases, orthopedics, internal health, mental health, surgery, maternity ward and various laboratories.
