No excuse for fighting after foreign forces’ exit: PPM

KABUL (Pajhwok): The People’s Peace Movement (PPM) on Saturday launched a campaign against war in 25 provinces of the country, insisting that no excuse remains for war after foreign forces’ withdrawal.

Iqbal Khyber, PPM head, during a meeting in Kabul today said that Afghanistan was the battleground of foreign wars while the victims were Afghans since the last two decades.

He said that besides a few thousand foreigners, hundreds of thousands of Afghans had also lost their lives while billions of dollars spent in the conflict.

After the withdrawal of foreign troops declared from Afghanistan, there is no reason to continue the war, he said.

“PPM welcomes withdrawal of foreign forces from Afghanistan and ask the US and the international community to also discharge their responsibility for ending this war and ensuring peace,” he said.

The movement also released a resolution letter in which the US and the international community are asked to encourage Taliban to arrive at the negotiating table and Turkey conference on Afghanistan.

On the other hand, a number of people in a gathering in Balkh province today asked the Taliban and government to declare a ceasefire in the country.

The gathering organized by PPM termed the ongoing war in the country a massacre of Afghans.

PPM has launched the campaign against war in support of peace in 25 provinces of the country today.
