Security base comes under car bombing in Panjwai district

KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): Afghan National Army (ANA) personnel came under car bombing in southern Kandahar province on Sunday, a source said.

A security source, wishing anonymity, told Pajhwok Afghan News the predawn blast occurred at around 1am when an explosives-packed tank was denoted in Panjwai district.

The source added insurgents wanted to crash the vehicle into a joint base of Police and ANA. The powerful blast was heard in Kandahar City.

The Taliban have not yet commented in this regard.

Security forces have launched operations in Panjwai district after clearing Arghandab of Taliban militants.
