KABUL (Pajhwok): The Taliban will agree on reduction in violence and a ceasefire with the Afghan government, Pakistan has promised.
The assurance was held out by a Pakistani delegation, led by special envoy Mohammad Sadiq, during a two-day visit to Kabul.
President Ghani’s Special Envoy for Pakistan Omar Daudzai told a private TV channel the visiting team also assured Taliban’s meaningful participation in the Istanbul summit.
During its two-day trip to Kabul, the delegation held separate meetings with Daudzai and National Security Adviser Hamdullah Mohib.
Ghani’s special envoy told TOLOnews the Pakistani delegation had come to Kabul the message that they would try their best to convince the Taliban to agree to a ceasefire.
He added Pakistan would do whatever it could to persuade the insurgent group to remain engaged and avoid skipping negotiations.
