KABUL (Pajhwok): Thirty drug smugglers including a woman have been sentenced from three to seven years in prison by the Counter Narcotics Justice Center (CNJC), the center said on Tuesday.
A statement from the CNJC received by Pajhwok Afghan News said the seven people were sentenced in open trials during the last week.
Detective organs seized 173,131 kilograms of heroin, 15,335 kilograms of opium, 75,271 kilograms of crystal meth, 718 kilograms of hashish, 5,173 litres of wine and 1,050 kilograms of hemp seeds from the accused, the statement said.
CNJC said that counternarcotic police personnel arrested 19 people including a woman in connection with 10 drug smuggling cases last week.
These people were arrested in Kabul, Balkh, Khost and Ghazni provinces and their cases were referred to the special prosecution department of CNJC after three days of initial investigations, the source added.
One of the drug smugglers was arrested while trying to traffic narcotics in a luggage from Kabul International Airport to India, the statement said.
