KABUL (Pajhwok): A US military contractor has been awarded prison sentence for her complicity in a theft on a military installation in Afghanistan.
Varita V. Quincy of Georgia pleaded guilty to conspiring along with others to steal generators, a truck and other items worth over $150,000 from a military installation in Kandahar.
The thefts occurred between April and July of 2015, AP reported, citing a statement from the US Attorney´s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia.
Larry Green of Chesapeake, a co-conspirator, negotiated the sale of the stolen items with a third-country middleman, who then facilitated the sale to unknown people in Kandahar.
The contractor also admitted to using her position to cause the production of false official documents, which led to the theft by allowing unknown Afghans and their vehicles onto the military installation.
After pleading guilty to other charges as well, she was sentenced to 51 months in prison and ordered to pay restitution of $179,708.
