KABUL (Pajhwok): President Ashraf Ghani has warned the Ministry of Public Health that if any medical equipment or oxygen cylinder disappeared from any health facility, the responsible person would be imprisoned for 20 years, according to a statement on Monday.
President Ghani stated this while Pajhwok reported last year that around 32 Ventilators were smuggled to Pakistan.
President Ghani was quoted as warning this by acting Public Health Minister Waheed Majro during a video link meeting with provincial health officials.
He said the president directed the Ministry of Interior to stop smuggling of health equipment to foreign countries and warned that if any medical equipment or oxygen cylinder went missing in any health centre, the responsible person would be imprisoned for 20 years.
Provincial health officials informed Majroh about efforts to deal with the third wave of coronavirus in the country.
Heads of technical committees were also present in the meeting who assured full support to health officials.
Majroh stressed that senior citizens should be given priority when it comes to coronavirus vaccination and prefer appointment of individuals in health centres who have past experience.
