KABUL (Pajhwok): Flash floods in northern Samangan province have left three people dead, causing substantial losses.
The rain-induced flooding hit the Shabashak village of Dara-i-Sauf Bala district on Sunday night, a police spokesman said on Monday.
Abdul Munir Rahimi told a private TV channel three people, including a woman, were killed in the rain-induced floods.
He said 30 animals were swept away by the flooding, which also damaged seven vehicles and crops. At least 300 tonnes of coal were destroyed.
Earlier in the week, the Afghanistan Civil Aviation Authority (ACAA) predicted heavy rains and floods in a number of provinces.
I forecast a wet spell in Badghis, Ghor, Faryab, Sar-i-Pul, Balkh, Samangan, Baghlan, Panjsher, Bamyan, Maidan Wardak, Logar, Paktia, Ghazni, Daikundi, Uruzgan, Paktika, and Nuristan provinces.
