KABUL(Pajhwok): The Ministry National Disasters Management said on Saturday that the latest floods had so far killed 78 people, injured 30 and many were missing across the country.
A spokesman for the ministry, Ahmad TamimAzimi, told Pajhwok Afghan News that rains starting on May 11 caused flash floods in many parts of the country, inflicting heavy financial and human life losses.
Azimi said the floods affected 22 provinces, but the worst hit were Herat, Ghor and Samangan provinces.
He said a total of 78 people were killed, 30 injured and up to 30 others were missing in the floods across the country.
He added a total of more than 2,000 houses had been destroyed and more than 3,000 animals died in these provinces.
He assured that a series of relief operations would be launched soon in this regard.
