KABUL (Pajhwok): An Afghan couple has been arrested with more than 100 kilograms of heroin in India, a media report said on Sunday.
Hailing from southern Kandahar province, the Afghan detainees were identified as Mohammad Shafi (48) and Tareena (36).
Delhi police seized 125.840 kilograms of heroin worth Rs860 crore from the refugees’ possession, India Today reported.
“On Friday, police got information that two people would come from Wazirabad with heroin in their car and will go towards Khyala,” a senior police officer said.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (west) Urvija Goel was quoted as saying that a trap was laid and the couple detained.
The contraband had been placed in seven plastic bags. Shafi has confessed to smuggling the heroin from Wazirabad to Khyala and then to Punjab.
