KABUL (Pajhwok): Russian President Vladimir Putin says Tajikistan’s concerns at the situation in Afghanistan are well-founded.
“Security issues are crucial in the region because of recent developments in Afghanistan,” the Russian leader said on Saturday.
According to TASS news agency, Putin said this at t a meeting with Tajikistan’s President Emomali Rahmon in Moscow.
Addressing the visiting dignitary, Putin said: “I know that you are worried about the situation. It goes without saying that this is a justified concern.”
Russia was doing all it could to support Tajikistan’s efforts to improve the situation by boosting the security of its military base in the Central Asian country.
