KABUL (Pajhwok): A nine-member Taliban group has been arrested in Kabul, who planned to launch a series of targeted killings, the spy service said on Monday.
In a statement, the National Directorate of Security (NDS) said the group was detained by its special forces in the central capital.
It identified the group members as Mohammad Nasir, Mohammad Juma, Shaiullah, Saifullah, Abdul Ahad, Sharafatullah, Rahmatullah and Abdullah. The statement said the detainees were involved in terrorist activities and targeted killings of civilians, government servants and security personnel.
The source said the detainees were also involved in planting landmines, magnetic bombs and throwing hand grenades onto security check-posts in 12th and 19th police districts.
According to the statement, the nine-member group was receiving explosives and ammunition from an individual in limits of Laghman province.
The statement did not provide details about the time and date of the arrest.
