KABUL (Pajhwok): The Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC) on Tuesday said that 519 civilians suffered casualties during the holy month of Ramadan.
A statement from AIHRC received by Pajhwok Afghan News said that the commission had recorded 130 security incidents in which civilians were affected.
The source said 160 civilians were killed and 351 others injured in these incidents until 26th of Ramadan.
However, the commission said civilian casualties caused in Dasht-i-Barchi area of Kabul were not included in these figures.
According to the Ministry of Interior, more than 60 civilians were killed and 100 others, with most of them schoolgirls, wounded in Kabul attack.
The figures of civilian casualties jumped to nearly 700 people with the inclusion of the Kabul attack victims.
AIHRC said some other security incidents that caused civilian losses had also not been documented.
Continued violence, high civilian casualties, deadlock in peace talks and recent deadly attacks all suggest that the ongoing war should be immediately ended and a truce announced, the statement concluded.
