PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): The United Kingdom’s Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) has commended Pakistan’s efforts for peace and stability in Afghanistan.
Gen. Sir Nicholas Patrick Carter also appreciated Pakistan’s role in advancing peace and stability in the region, especially the Afghan peace process.
Gen. Carter met Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa in Kabul on Monday, the army’s media wing said.
In a statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations said matters of mutual interest and regional security, particularly current developments in the Afghan peace process were discussed.
Also on Monday, Gen. Bajwa met President Ashraf Ghani and promised Pakistan’s continued support for an Afghan-led and Afghan-owned peace process.
“A peaceful Afghanistan means a peaceful region in general and a peaceful Pakistan in particular,” the army chief remarked.
