KABUL (Pajhwok): The High Council for National Reconciliation (HCNR) has termed its Chairman Dr. Abdullah Abdullah’s laughter in a photograph with Pakistan’s Army Chief Gen. Bajwa as fake and forged while Pajhwok finding shows the picture is mostly original.
Claim: HCNR Chairman Dr. Abdullah laughter in photograph with Pakistani Army Chief is fake
HCNR Chairman Dr. Abdullah on May 10 held a meeting with Pakistan’s Army Chief Gen. Bajwa and discussed with him the Afghan peace and reconciliation process.
After the meeting, a photograph of Dr. Abdullah and Gen. Bajwa was taken in which Dr. Abdullah is laughing. Some social media users criticized Dr. Abdullah’s laughter in the picture.
Jafar Faisal in his facebook page wrote: “Abdullah laughter and happy face on the national mourning day is strange, isn’t it? Apart from his personal interest he is not concerned about any national or human value. When will Abdullah become serious about his people, at least after this nobody should hope so.”
This comes as 85 people, mostly students, were killed and over 140 injured in back to back blasts near Sayd-ul-Shuhada School in the Dasht-e-Barchi locality of Kabul on May 8.
On May 1, 26 people, mostly civilians, were killed and over 100 injured in a blast on a guest house in Logar province. According to reports most of the victims were students who had come to Pul-e-Alam, the capital of Logar province, for Kankor examination.
After a couple of deadly incidents, the Afghan government declared May 11 a day of national mourning.
Ahmad Ahmadi, a social media user on his facebook page wrote regarding Abdullah’s laughter: “Everyone knows that supporters of terrorism in Afghanistan are Pakistan’s intelligence and military. The blood of students in the streets and streams of Dasht-e-Barchi has not dried yet, mothers have yet not stopped crying for their loved ones lost in Logar blast but Dr. Abdullah posturing with an extraordinary laughter and expression of happiness while walking with Gen. Bajwa as if everything is fine and there is nothing to mourn about. This is really shameful and disturbing.”
Ibrahim Usman also in his facebook page wrote: “Two days before Dr. Abdullah’s laughter, over 60 students were killed and more than 150 others injured and today a national mourning was expected. What reason behind Dr. Abdullah’s laughter?”
In addition, some facebook users termed this style of Dr. Abdullah’s laughter alongside Gen. Bajwa against diplomatic norms.
Mujeeb Rahman Rahim, Dr. Abdullah’s Advisor at the HCNR, told Pajhwok Afghan News the photograph circulating in the social media was fake and photographed by sick-minded people.
He said: “In this photograph Abdullah’s head is bigger than what it is actually, his head is touching beard more than necessary, his hears given more polish, neck is almost touching his shoulders, the man in his right is more clear than Abdullah while he is behind him. He is defocused and unclear in the photograph his coat is reflecting the light as well.”
He said Dr. Abdullah made this laughter with President Ghani and it is used in photoshoping Abdullah’s picture with Gen. Bajwa.
Rahimi was asked to share Abdullah’s laughter photograph with Ghani but he did not provide that.
Pajhwok also searched internet and https://tineye.comf to find Abdullah laughting photograph from the past but nothing was found to support Rahimi’s claim.
Pajhwok also searchedhttps://tineye.comto certify if this picture is duplicate or fake but the result showed that the picture was not duplicate.
Other individuals could also be seen in the photograph smiling and this qualified that at that particular meeting something joking had been said for which everyone laughed.
Another picture of Dr. Abdullah and Gen. Bajwa also showed that both dignitaries are laughing.
Outcome: Abdullah’s office termed laughter picture of him with Gen. Bajwa as fake and forged while Pajhwok did not find anything to prove the picture is unreal.
Verdict: Abdullah’s laughter picture with Gen. Bajwa is mostly original.
