KABUL (Pajhwok): Afghan government and Taliban negotiators have agreed to continue their peace negotiations in Doha.
Both sides said the delegates said exchanged Eid al-Fitr greetings at their meeting in the capital of Qatar on Friday. They discussed the current situation in Afghanistan and underlined the imperative of speeding up the peace parleys.
After the meeting, the government team tweeted: “Abdul Salam Rahimi and Fatima Gilani represented Kabul.
The Taliban movement was represented by several members of their delegation, including Mullah Baradar Akhund.
The negotiators stressed the resumption of the peace talks after Eid.
Dr. Mohammed Naeem, spokesman for Taliban’s Qatar office, confirmed: “Both sides agreed to continue the negotiations after Eid.”
