KABUL (Pajhwok): Foreign Minister Haneef Atmar has condemned escalating attacks and encroachment on the Palestinian people.
In a phone conversation with his Palestinian counterpart Riyad AL Maliki, he lashed out at Israel’s aggression during the holy month of Ramadan and Eidul-Fitr.
Atmar slammed the deadly attacks as unacceptable to Muslim countries and peace-loving nations. He called for an immediate end to the violence in the region.
Atmar conveyed condolences from President Ashraf Ghani and the people of Afghanistan to the Palestinian government over the martyrdom of dozens of civilians, including women and children.
While praying for the swift recovery of the injured, he voiced the Afghan people’s solidarity with the suffering Palestinians,
Atmar said Afghanistan supported the Palestinian people’s legitimate right to an independent state, within the borders set out in the 1967 UN Security Council resolution.
For his part, the Palestinian minister praised Atmar for expressing sympathy. He welcomed support from the Muslim world and peace-loving countries as important and valuable for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.
Atmar also invited Maliki to visit Afghanistan at his convenience.
