KABUL (Pajhwok): As foreign troops are leaving Afghanistan, Taliban militants have strengthened their grip on many districts across the country.
Since early 2018, the number of districts controlled and contested by the Taliban had almost doubled, shows an ongoing study of the security situation,
The FDD’s Long War Journal’s study indicated the expansion of Taliban’s power over the past three years despite the presence of foreign forces.
In January 2018, the Taliban held sway over 45 of Afghanistan’s 407 districts, or 11 percent, and contested 117 others, or 29 percent.
