LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): Unidentified gunmen have set alight a school in the Nahr-i-Saraj district of southern Helmand province.
Provincial police spokesman Mohammad Zaman told Pajhwok Afghan News on Saturday the school building was torched Saminar area last night.
A large number of books, including copies of the Holy Quran, were burnt in the arson attack on the school, where hundreds of students were enrolled, he said.
Education Director Mohammad Dawood, however, said he was unaware of the incident, for which no one has claimed responsibility so far.
