KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): A security official has been killed along with five policemen during a clash in southern Zabul province, a public representative said on Thursday.
Provincial Council Chairman Atta Jan Haqbayan told Pajhwok Afghan News the militants attacked a security check-post in the 1st police district of Qalat on Wednesday night.
Mohammad Nasim Tokhi, chief of staff to an operating battalion, was killed along with five police personnel in the attack, which left three others wounded.
Haqbayan warned Zabul is facing serious threats and the province might fall if the government did pay ample heed to its security.
He said the militants destroyed a Humvee tank and took away another one along with two pick-ups.
He said three security soldiers were killed and two others wounded as a result of an explosion targeting ANA personnel in Shah Joy district.
