KABUL (Pajhwok): President Ashraf Ghani and several other political leaders have agreed on the creation of a decision-making panel, says the Hezb-i-Islami Afghanistan (HIA).
Gulbadin Hekmatyar told a private TV channel the Supreme State Council would make final decisions on issues of national importance.
The panel will include former president Hamid Karzai, the HIA head, Jamiat-i-Islami leader Salahuddin Rabbani, Marshal Abdul Rashid Dostum, Mohammad Mohaqiq, Karim Khalili and a Taliban representative.
Hekmatyar revealed the issue of freeing 7,000 more Taliban prisoners would be addressed. The US may also remove names of Taliban leaders from blacklists.
Detailed discussions are expected on the role of the council. The HIA will not be part of the panel if it does not have decision-making power.
