KABUL (Pajhwok): Former director of the Pashtany Bank and three of his colleagues have been sentenced to five years and a month in jail each for embezzlement of $900,000, the Supreme Court said Tuesday.
A statement from the Supreme Court received by Pajhwok Afghan News said that the sentences were handed down today in a public session of the appellate court of the Anti-Corruption Justice Center.
Today’s session was held in presence of both sides of the case and each of the accused was sentenced to five years and one month in jail, the source said.
The court upheld the Attorney General’s Office ruling in the case, which sentenced HayatullahDeyani, former director of the bank, and three other former workers to five years and one month in jail each and payment of $900,000 on February 24.
